Determination of the viscosity of thermoplastic materials under clean room conditions. The rheometer is also used as a RAM extruder for the production of implants in the pharmaceutical industry.
Kapillarrheometer RG25E
The RHEOGRAPH 25E was specially developed for use in cleanrooms and is based on our proven high-pressure capillary rheometer.
The versatile device can be used to determine viscosity and as a RAM or stem extruder for the production of strand-shaped products - for example for implants made of biodegradable plastics as drug carriers.
The RAM extruder uses the platform of a capillary rheometer, an established testing device in the polymer industry. High-precision temperature control creates stable conditions in the reservoir and the material is heated gently and evenly, without the undesirable shear heating that can occur with continuous extruders.
The constant speed die ensures a uniform diameter of the extrudate, which screw extruders often cannot guarantee. The batch process minimizes rejects and material losses and enables the processing of very small quantities, such as temperature-sensitive medicines, from 100 ml per extrusion cycle.
Good to know
The RHEOGRAPH 25 E is made of stainless steel and designed in accordance with protection class IP64, making it easy to clean and disinfect. It is suitable for use in class A cleanrooms.

Our modular add-ons also offer an extended option for characterizing materials.
The measuring head is mounted below the die. The measurement can be carried out parallel to a viscosity measurement.
